Happy New Year @ Floodlighting

After a manic Christmas period putting up decorations, repairing many Christmas lights and many other lighting/maintenance projects between – we are through to the New Year!

Most of our clients will know that the two months before & the month after Christmas is our busiest time of the year. So January/February is where we start to play catch up, and work our way through a back-log of projects and hopefully get some new ones in.

Where you may find us in the coming weeks?

First things first, taking down all of the Christmas lights that we installed in October/November – Cardiff, Wellfield Rd, Radyr & Morganstown, Cowbridge, Pontyclun, Penarth, Caerphilly (Castle Court) and Rhiwbina (Christmas Tree).

We’ve then got a couple of floodlight installations coming up @ Monmouth RFC & and also Rhydyfelin RFC where they are having a new training area floodlit.
Maintenance is a large part of what we do, so we will be travelling far and wide in Wales and throughout the UK performing lamp changes, and repairs @ Rugby clubs, Football clubs, Tennis Clubs, Golf Clubs, Leisure Centres & many Schools, Colleges and Universities.

A large amount of our contracted works come from local councils and big companies like Kier Group, BAM and TNT for example. We perform all sorts of electrical maintenance & installations at their sites, for example car park lighting, high bay lighting, office lighting, fans, heaters, heavy machinery installations and even complete re-wires.

And finally, another part of being Electrical Contractors is of course Testing. We have many scheduled Portable Appliance Testing visits & Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR’s) to complete with our large range of clients.

Don’t forget to give us a call on 01443 226009 or e-mail info@fandes.co.uk if you are interested in any of the works mentioned above or even if you have something else in mind. We look forward to hearing from you!

Keep On Lighting

A recent busy period of floodlighting and other electrical commitments has seen us travel back and forth to North Wales, heading over the bridge to Bristol & of course the big Christmas decorations take-down.

North Wales has been a regular location for our floodlighting electricians recently, with the Football Association of Wales kindly handing us the task of doing a light level check which led to a lighting upgrade for many of the Welsh Premier League Clubs.

The trips to Bristol have been one of many visits to Schools, Colleges and Universities all across the UK. The majority of our trips involve lamp & ignitor changes to get your lighting levels up to scratch. With our installations we offer a guarantee on our products, so on the rare occasion that a lamp has an early failure we will replace it free of charge.

In terms of recent installations, we have installed more lighting up at Brecon RFC and upgraded lights at Cardiff Metropolitan University‘s Cyncoed Campus to name a few. On the horizon we have a few local projects including lighting up a Rugby Training Area for Rhydyfelin RFC. Looking forward to more busy times ahead and hopefully some exciting projects to get involved in!

We are open to receiving projects from new clients as well as current clients. If you’ve got any floodlighting queries do not hesitate to give us a call for a Free Quotation on
01443 226009 or email info@fandes.co.uk. We also perform other electrical services so please check out our website for more information www.floodlightingelectrical.com.

Autumn Update

We’ve been non-stop the past couple of months with floodlighting installations and maintenance all over the UK!

We’ve made many visits throughout Wales & England performing some much needed floodlighting maintenance ahead of the upcoming evening matches during the winter months. Visits including Schools, Colleges/Universities and of course Sporting Clubs.

Our main focus now in the coming weeks however is the installation of Christmas Lighting across Cardiff & its many high streets and arcades, as well as other towns in the South Wales area. It’s always a struggle managing our various lighting projects during the festive period, but somehow we get the job done to the best standards!

Website Live + Our Recent Site Visits

The new look website is now live online at the usual address www.floodlightingelectrical.com.

With some new features in place, and also fully functioning features that were in place before, we should now be able to cater to your every need.

Let’s give you a quick explanation of what’s on display at our Projects Page..

The image above shows a quick breakdown of the Projects Page.
Starting at the top left, this is the natural view of the page, displaying all projects in alphabetical order with the category they belong to listed below it.

As you can see, some of the projects listed have a small camera icon next to its name, this lets the user know a gallery image is available to view. Once clicked the image will pop up also displaying column and floodlight information below.
Column and floodlight information, if known, is also shown when the cursor is hovered over a project.

Arguably the most important part of the page is the content filter. The user can use 3 separate filters to display only projects applicable to them, filtering either the categories (Football, Rugby, Tennis etc.), the number of columns used for the installation or the floodlight quantity.
This information can be used to allow users to see more types of floodlight installation, and to hopefully give Sports Clubs or individuals an idea of what system they may like installed at their premises.

Floodlighting Guide

We have created a floodlighting guide that can be accessed from the website @ www.floodlightingelectrical.com/guides. We are also a proud author of the WRU Floodlighting guide, tailored more specifically towards Rugby Ground floodlighting.

You don’t have to trawl through our list of projects to find our photographs either, you can now access our photographs in the Gallery.
The Other Projects gallery displays some of the different lighting projects we have undertaken on bridges, churches and a lake for example.

Contacting Us

As usual we can be contacted using our email, telephone and fax details found on the contact page, but now there are also two contact forms on our website that can be used too.

For general questions or for quick contact with us please use the small form on the home page or for a full enquiry on floodlighting then the form on the contact page is the best one to use. The main form highlights the various pieces of information we would ask of you if you called up and spoke in person, including lighting level required (if known), if a suitable power supply is available and simply at what stage is your project – for example planning acquired, design stage or even just repair/maintenance.

Other News

The Swansea Liberty Stadium project is nearing its end, meaning some shiny new photographs will soon make their way to our Website, Twitter and of course this blog.

We have decided however to try and take some more photographs of other projects we have done in the past and in most cases, continue to maintain. The days are long during the summer months so we have included some of our daytime photographs for the website, allowing us to give you more of an idea of the variety of facilities we floodlight. An example of this from the past week includes a trip to Llanwern High School (Formerly Hartridge),where we have floodlit a Grass Football Pitch (4 columns & 32 floodlights), a 3G Football facility (6 columns & 22 floodlights) as well as a small MUGA (multi use games area – 2 columns & 4 floodlights).

Llanwern High School Floodlighting

As we visited the Newport area, we also took a visit to some of our other facilities including Newport Stadium and the FAW Headquarters (Grass pitch & 3G pitch).

We already have professional night-time photographs of these locations but took some new daytime material nonetheless, as we aim to update some of the images in the Services section of the website as soon as possible.

The final facility we visited during the week was the University of South Wales Sport Park at Tyn Y Wern.

We have installed and currently maintain all floodlighting at this facility which includes several different pitches including a 3G Football Pitch, Astro Turf Pitch and Football & Rugby Floodlit Pitches.

The newly added photographs are now on show in our gallery, and can also be found using our projects page.

Welcome Back!

After a short time away from the social side of things, we’re back..

Just what have we been up to?

Where to begin, a mad rush of lighting projects coming in over the past month or two, with a couple of exciting ones to say the least!
Our new look website is almost at release date, for you all to see.

Floodlighting projects

As the end of the English Premier League season approached a couple of months ago, plans were already solidly in place for teams to abide by the newly updated lighting specifications set by the Premier League.
With the vast increase of 3D and HD televisions/channels recently it has become necessary for the lighting levels to be upgraded.

Our strong connections with Sports Clubs throughout Wales has meant we are currently carrying out installations at Swansea, Wrexham, Newport and Cardiff as well as many other Clubs/Schools/Universities all over Wales and England.

We are having professionally taken photographs of the lighting in full swing at The Liberty Stadium, Swansea once the job is completed, so you can see the undoubtedly fantastic job done – before the 2014/15 football season begins!

Other lighting related goings on..

More and more questions have been asked of us about LED lighting alternatives.
With the obvious positives that could arise from having LED floodlighting, less maintenance and running costs being a couple, it will only be a matter of time before they start popping up everywhere. Some high profile clubs around the country are currently enquiring about the systems, with at least one rumoured to be in place for the coming season.

We have been looking into the LED lamps as an alternative and hope to be involved in a big LED floodlighting job sometime in the near future.

Website update

The new look website is almost up for all to see at the usual address www.floodlightingelectrical.com. We are hoping to get some feedback off potential users, allowing us to better the website in any way. When it’s up we will ask if you could kindly take a look and give us some helpful feedback using the comments section to this post or to our Twitter account!

We are hoping to get as many details of our projects on the site as possible. If you have a club listed in the projects section of the website and would like to give us the details of your system (i.e. number of columns & floodlights) or provide us with a picture to post on behalf of the club then definitely get in contact with us. If your club isn’t listed but should be, then also please let us know and we can promote your club as a part of our work 🙂

New project

Goings On..

We are currently undergoing a website revamp, getting the faults from the current website fixed and giving the site a more modern feel.

Website Sneak Peak

Preview of our website revamp!

Here’s a sneak peak for you above, we hope to get the website totally replaced as soon as possible!
We’ve updated the list of projects, added some new images and given the place a new lease of life. Some changes include the projects area where a rather serious fault was found, where the user could not navigate past page 1 on the alphabetical lists or when categorised. The new website projects page includes a sort/filter panel on the side which allows you to display projects by a particular sport, by how many floodlighting columns they have or by how many floodlights were used. Not all projects have the information available but we will do our best to give you all the information we can!

Other Goings On..

We have been really busy during January/early February mostly taking down all the Christmas decorations we put up, teamed with the backlog of work over our Christmas break!
Although we’re getting back on track now, and also have a bit of a side project going on too..

Lake Lighting & Electrical

The company has been developing the project of a Trade Counter service under the company name of Lake Lighting and Electrical. The counter is situated amongst our collection of warehouse units at The Woodlands, Pontyclun, South Wales and will be selling an all manner of items (examples below) so please pop along and take a look!

Lake Lighting and Electrical

Hopefully the trade counter will be fully open from Monday 17th February onwards.
